How to Remove and Reinstall a Nozzle Assembly on a J150
Step by step guide on how to remove and reinstall a nozzle assembly on the EAV J150 drone successfully.
How to Remove and Reinstall a Nozzle Assembly on a J150
1. Prepare the machine and clear access to the nozzle assembly 0:01
- Start by identifying the nozzle assembly on the J150.
- Cut away any material blocking access, but do not cut the pipe.
- Once the area is clear, begin unplugging the wires.
- You do not have to unplug every wire if replacing only one nozzle, but removing them all makes the job easier and keeps them out of the way.
2. Remove the hose and solenoid to open up the assembly 1:22
- Remove the hose from the assembly to create more working room.
- This step is optional, but it helps prevent accidental damage or bending while working.
- Move to the other side and remove the solenoid mounting bolts.
- The bolts are all the same length, so you do not need to sort them by size.
- Pull the solenoid out and unplug it, then set it aside.
3. Remove the nozzle assembly from the housing 2:25
- Locate the four 2.5 mm bolts around the nozzle assembly.
- The rubber boot has some flexibility once the solenoid is removed, so bend it slightly to access the screws.
- Remove the bolts carefully.
- On the last bolt, support the nozzle so it does not fall to the ground.
- Feed the wires through the opening:
- Lightly guide the two wires downward.
- Feed the orange wire upward through the slit at the top.
- Once the wires are free, the nozzle assembly can be removed.
4. Reinstall or replace the nozzle assembly 3:57
- If you are replacing the assembly, install the new one now.
- Feed the two wires back up through their original path.
- Route the orange wire back through the top opening.
- Align the four bolt holes carefully.
- Reinstall the four 2.5 mm bolts.
- Start the bolts evenly and avoid cross-threading.
- A good technique is to skip around between bolts so the assembly seats evenly before tightening fully.
5. Reinstall the solenoid 5:58
- Plug the solenoid back in until it clicks into place.
- Line up the solenoid mounting holes.
- Reinstall the four 2.5 mm solenoid bolts.
- Make sure the threads are aligned before tightening.
- Tighten only until snug; they do not need to be extremely tight.
6. Reattach the hose and secure it with a zip tie 6:48
- Reinstall the hose onto the bottom of the solenoid.
- Add a zip tie to hold the hose in place.
- Position the zip tie around the middle of the hose connection.
- Tighten it snugly and trim the excess tail.
7. Route and reconnect the cables correctly 7:10
- Make sure the spray adapter cable is pushed into the arm and not pulled through too far.
- Feed the first cable through, then the second cable.
- Reconnect the signal cable coming through the arm.
- While connecting, pull the cables through gently so they do not bend excessively or rub.
8. Connect the inside and outside nozzle wiring 8:36
- Identify the nozzle labels:
- Outside nozzle = longer wire
- Inside nozzle = shorter wire
- Connect the short wire to the outside nozzle.
- Connect the inside wire to the inside nozzle.
- For the power cords:
- The longer power cord goes to the farther nozzle, the inside nozzle.
- The shorter power cord goes to the outside nozzle.
- Make sure the dummy plug cap remains on the inside nozzle where no solenoid is used.
9. Bundle the wires and secure the final hose connection 9:34
- Gather all wires together neatly.
- Add a zip tie in the middle to keep the bundle organized.
- Lift the wires slightly so they support each other and stay in place.
- Reinstall the arm hose onto the solenoid.
- Push it down firmly and keep it straight so the nut does not cross-thread.
- Tighten it by hand until secure.
10. Final inspection 10:26
- Confirm all zip ties are installed.
- Verify all wires are connected correctly.
- Make sure no bolts are missing.
- Check that the solenoid does not move up and down.
- Confirm the nozzle does not twist.
- If everything is secure, the nozzle assembly installation is complete.
