Charging Station Slow Charge

Your charging station is slow charging when both power supplies are connected with a good 50A 240V power source.

Cause:

  1. Your generator is incompatible with the DJI Charging Station.
    1. Certain generator brands and models do not put power out at the correct Hz in order to fast charge.
  2. Your generator is not a high enough running watt.
    1. Your generator must be AT LEAST 9500 running watts, do not get this number confused with peak watts.
  3. Your power supply has gone bad.
    1. If your fast charger is slow charging regardless of the power source, or with a power source that is proven, the most likely case is the power supply has gone out.

Diagnosing:

  1. Test your charging station with multiple power sources, including 240V wall outlets or multiple generators.
  2. If the power sources are known to work with chargers, plug in one power supply in the charger and slow charge with them one at a time.
    1. This will allow you to see if both chargers are accepting 240V individually and if the charger will slow charge with one power supply at a time.

Solutions:

  1. If the power source is determined to be the issue with the charging station, a new power source will be necessary in order to fast charge.
    1. We recommend using Westinghouse 9500 generators, DO NOT USE THE DUAL FUEL. Agri Spray is not affiliated with Westinghouse, but we use them on our spray rig.
  2. If the power supply will not slow charge on its own that means a power supply must be replaced.
    1. This will take removing the front cover of the charger, then loosening the two screws that hold in the bad power supply. The bad power supply will then just slide out the front.

Conclusion:

Most often the issue with chargers slow charging is the generator and not the charger. It is very important to verify if the generator is the issue or not first, then proceed from there.
