DJI Relay Overview
The DJI Relay is not a signal booster but a repeater station that enhances transmission and receiving capabilities between your controller and drone. It extends the range and helps maintain signal integrity, especially in areas with poor signal strength or obstacles.
How DJI Relay Works
The relay takes the signal from your controller, amplifies it, and transmits it to the drone. It then relays the signal back from the drone to your controller. This process improves communication and helps avoid signal dropouts.
Setting Up DJI Relay
To set up the relay effectively, ensure it is positioned 3 to 4 meters above the crop or obstacles. Line of sight is crucial for optimal performance. By strategically placing the relay, you can overcome signal issues caused by terrain or distance.
Power Management
The relay has an internal battery with a four-hour life. Consider using an external battery pack for extended use. Options like portable generators can also keep the relay powered for longer durations, offering flexibility in field operations.
Practical Applications
The DJI Relay is beneficial for scenarios like flying over long fields, navigating hilly terrain, or operating in areas with signal interference. It enhances connectivity and helps operators maintain communication with the drone for uninterrupted operations.
Conclusion
With positive feedback from users, the DJI Relay proves to be a valuable tool for addressing transmission challenges. For assistance with setting up or understanding the DJI Relay, feel free to contact us for support.

Our thoughts on the DJI Relay
Overall the device has greatly improved users experience in areas that they have battled signal loss, for a variety of reasons. It is crucial to get the Relay 3-4 meters (10-13ft) above the crop canopy being flown. The Relay is versatile in the methods it can be used to assist in accomplishing your spraying mission. One drawback to the Relay is its internal battery only lasts for about 4 hours. This can be easily overcome when the unit is used at the operator's location as you can run an extension cord up the pole and connect the charging cable to your power source to keep it running for longer periods of time. Although more challenging, power supplies or a smaller generator could be used in the field to maintain longer use of the device if 4 hours is not long enough. We would not let the 4 hour battery life deter us from using the unit as it is easily combated and in some cases many people use the Relay for a very short period of time in specific areas they know they will lose signal. Overall, the DJI Relay is an exciting product as it improves the overall experience of operating a spray drone when faced with challenging signal conditions.
