False Radar Detection

The issue you will see is the drone will stop constantly during autonomous flight. The drone will be flying over an open field and slam on the breaks due to the over sensitive radar.

Cause:

  1. The cause of this issue is the drone is getting signals telling it to stop because it is detecting an obstacle. For example it is common to happen over corn. It will be over sensitive towards the corn swaying in the wind or tassels being blown up in the air.

Diagnosing:

  1. If you are having this issue, first try bumping up your height as you may just be too close to the crop. If you are a good height above crop and it is still doing this it could be due to the omnidirectional radar.

Solutions:

  1. Downgrade the firmware version on your aircraft. Test it on this firmware and see if the problem is still present. Then you can re-update to the newest firmware.
    1. The firmware version can be the problem because the software could have developed a glitch with the omnidirectional radar. If you redo the update it could fix this bug in the firmware.
  2. Replace the Omnidirectional Radar.
    1. The omnidirectional radar is defected and will need to be swapped.

Conclusion:

If you run into this issue, it is more than likely an issue with the omnidirectional.
