T30 FPV (Camera) Goes Black

One or both of the FPVs have gone black and no longer work. It could have happened after a crash or could have gone bad in the middle of the flight.

Cause:

  1. One or both of the FPVs have gone bad.
    1. If both FPVs have shut off, it could still just be one camera.
  2. One of the FPV signal cables could have shorted out.
    1. Same thing as the FPV camera, one cable can shut off both FPVs.
  3. The cable distribution board could have shorted out.
  4. The aerial electronics module has been shorted out.

Diagnosing:

  1. To diagnose the cause look and see if either FPV is cracked or has let water in
  2. Look and see if either FPV signal cable has a cut or exposed wire

Solutions:

  1. If just one FPV is out, replace the one FPV, if more than one, replace both at the same time.
  2. Replace both FPV signal cables at the same time.
  3. If neither of those works, the aerial electronics module and cable distribution board would be next.
    1. May need to replace both at once in case whichever one went bad shorted out the other one.

Conclusion:

If just one FPV isn’t working it is a fairly easy issue to resolve, most of the time it will be fixed by replacing just the FPV or the FPV signal cable to that one FPV. If it is both, then you will want to start by replacing both FPVs and their signal cable. If that fixes the issue then you can troubleshoot and figure out which one was actually the problem. You can do the same with the aerial electronics module and the cable distribution board. You will want to look out for a short in the system that fries more than one thing. An example is a short in the FPV signal cable could short out the camera and possibly the cable distribution board and aerial electronics module. Sometimes it is best to replace multiple things at once and leave it, if something shorts out multiple parts.
