This article is an overview of how to setup and use your RTK base station.
Components Overview
Set up tripod
NOTE: Once the base station is set up and turned on it DO NOT move it. If you need to move it, ensure the mission is completed and the base station is turned off.
- Use leveling bubble to ensure tripod is level prior to installing rtk base station
Assemble RTK Base station
- Screw lower pole into upper section of the base station
- Slide pole into tripod
- Tighten collar to lock in tripod and base station pole
- Insert battery into base station battery port
- If using power adapter remove adapter port plug and insert adapter
- Plug into power
- If using power adapter remove adapter port plug and insert adapter
- Press, release, press and hold power button on base station
- Middle button
- Allow the base station to have a few minutes to boot up and obtain satellites.
- Once the middle button is a solid green light you can move on.
- Ensure base station is in Mode 5
- Right button light should blink 5 times rapidly
- If station is in a different mode
- Press and hold mode button for 2 seconds
- Yellow light will flash
- Press button to switch to next mode
- Press button until yellow lights flash 5 times rapidly
- Once mode is selected wait until light flashes 5 time rapidly but this time it will be green
- You are now in mode 5
- Press and hold mode button for 2 seconds
Connecting Controller to base station
- Power on controller and drone
- Ensure drone is connected to controller
- Select Device Management Icon on home screen
- Click on “D-RTK 2 Mobile Station”
- Click Linking
- Linking process will look for your base station
- Once found Select the RTK source
- Now your linked to your base station
- You may have to redo this process every time the drone is powered on.
- Linking process will look for your base station
- To verify your connected to the base station
- The far left button on base station should have a solid green light
- The middle button should also be solid green
- The far right button should be blinking 5 times rapidly
- The far left button on base station should have a solid green light
- On controller, Select “Execute Task”
- Under settings select “RTK”
- “Aircraft RTK Positioning - on
- “RTK Signal Source” - D-RTK 2 Mobile Station
- Next to D-RTK 2 Mobile StationStatus you should see “Connected”
- You will also see the base station satellite information
- Under settings select “RTK”
- Turn on RTK Orientation
- Exit settings
- You should see your base station icon on the top of the screen and it should say “Fix”
- Your controller should say your flying with RTK not GNSS
- If RTK loss is encountered you will see Manual(GNSS) and your controller will tell you, you are now flying in GNSS mode
- You are now connected to your base station and are ready to fly.
