Fixing J100 Flow Meter Issues: A Step-by-Step Guide

Experiencing issues with the flow meter on your J100 drone, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem.

As shown in the video above, the RPMs dropped to zero on the left pump while the quantity was at 1.4 gal per minute. The outflow of the left pump was significantly higher than the right. When this happens it caused the flow meter to shut off the left pump, therefore dropping the RPMs to zero.

Step 1: Shut Down Drone Batteries (Internal & External)

(Powering down and restarting video Click Here)

Before performing any maintenance or checks, ensure the drone is powered off. Shut down both the internal and external batteries to fully restart the drone. The internal battery is located under the cover of the drone with a cable labeled 201 S-BAT (disconnect this cable).

Step 2: Check the Filter Intake for Clogs
The filter intake is an essential component in maintaining a smooth flow of liquid from the spray tank to the flow meter. Inspect the intake to ensure it isn’t clogged with debris, residue, or any blockages that could prevent proper flow. This is a common issue, especially in dusty or dirty field conditions.

Step 3: Verify Pump Cable Connections
Next, check the pump cables to make sure they are securely plugged in and not crossed. Misconnected or loosely plugged cables can cause communication errors between the flow meter and the pump, leading to inconsistent spraying or malfunctions.

Step 4: Inspect Flow and Pump Cables for Physical Damage
Look over the flow meter cables and pump cables for any signs of wear, cuts, or abrasions. Even minor damage can interfere with the flow of information or power. If any cables appear damaged, it’s important to replace them to prevent further problems. Link below to purchase a new pump hose assembly.

Step 5: Downgrade and Re-Upgrade Firmware
If all physical checks are in order, the issue may lie in the software. Downgrade the firmware on your J100 to an earlier version, then re-upgrade to the latest release. This process can resolve any software glitches or bugs that may be affecting the flow meters’ performance.

Step 6: Replace the Flow Meter
If the previous steps don’t resolve the issue, it may be time to replace the flow meter itself. Over time, components like these can wear out or become faulty, and a replacement may be necessary to restore full functionality. Link below to purchase a new flow meter.
