Initial Setup Process (Step by Step) - HD408 Auto Steer

1. Follow the included installation instructions and videos for hardware installation. After hardware is installed, please refer to the steps in this article. They offer much more detail than the included manufacturer booklet.

2. Update the firmware prior to initial calibration. Download the newest updates on the USB drive and insert it into the display. Complete the updates in this order: 1. GNSS Update, 2. Controller Update, 3. Display Terminal Update. See the articles below for instructions:

3. Once the firmware has been updated, choose if you would like to use PPP GNSS (SBAS) or a Cellular RTK network for your correction source. This article from #2 will assist in the PPP GNSS setup process. Cellular RTK can be set up in the same menu. 
   
   
4. The system will begin connecting to satellites once a correction source has been selected. The RTK state must say “Fixed” to begin calibration. This step will require 10-15 minutes for proper connection. Click Here for detailed instructions on reaching a “Fixed” RTK State

   1. Change units of measurement  to Imperial (ft, mph, acres, etc.)
      Locate the 'Settings' icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.  Go to 'System' and then select 'System Configuration.' Scroll down until you see units of measurement. Click the white drop down menu and select "Imperial."
   2. IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE!
      In the Settings tab, go to Advanced Calibration > Manual Steering Override Calibration.      
      Turn this ON and set sensitivity to the desired level (Level 1-2 recommended). This is a safety feature that allows you to override Autosteering at any time by turning the wheel manually. 
      
      
6. Go to the settings tab. Complete “Quick Calibration.” 
   It is helpful to have two people for this step to ensure accurate measurements. Maintaining accuracy in your measurements is vital for proper system operation! Steering motor 5 is included in the kit.  Verify you have selected the proper wheel angle sensor orientation (up/down).

7. Once Quick Calibration has been completed. The system is ready for operation. 
   
   
8. Sensitivity settings will vary depending on machine size, type, and installation location. The “Controls” tab in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen will allow you to adjust these parameters for consistent U-turns and tracking on A/B lines. 9. Complete the Autosteer Onboarding Form which can be found via the QR code on the autosteer box or linked in your post-purchase email. This is how you will register the system for warranty.
