How to Update the Firmware - HD408 Autosteer

This article outlines the steps to update the software on the HD 408 Auto Steer System using a USB drive.

 

 

Step by Step

1. Check the version numbers for each component listed in the app prior to completing the updates. If the version listed for a component is already current, do not repeat the update. 

(Click the settings button on the left side of the screen > System >Version Upgrade)

2. Prepare USB Drive 0:07

  • Insert the USB drive into your computer. When downloading, save the files to the USB when the File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) pop-up window appears after you click the link. If it does not appear, the files may be sent to your 'downloads' folder automatically. Copy and paste or drag the files onto the USB drive. 
  • Make sure flash drive is formatted to FAT 32 for Android. Use caution when reformatting as other drives could be wiped accidentally if they are selected.

4. Insert USB Drive 0:35

  • Flip up the monitor of the HD 408 system.
  • Locate the USB port on the bottom of the monitor and insert the USB drive.


5. Navigate to Update Settings 2:11
  • Return to the main home screen of the autosteer system.
  • Click on 'settings' in the bottom left corner, then 'system', and finally 'version'.

6. Perform Update 2:18
  • For initial setup please complete the updates in this order:
    1. GNSS Update
    2. Controller Update
    3. Display Terminal Update
  • Click 'update' and wait for the system to search for available updates.

7. Complete Update Process 2:26
  • If an update is found, click on it to start the update process.
  • Wait until the update is complete. Do not touch the screen. 

8. Confirm Update Success 2:37
  • Look for a message on the screen that says 'update success' to confirm the update was completed.

If steps 1-7 are unsuccessful, proceed with the following steps:

1.  Access File Manager +  0:46

  • File Manager + may appear automatically when the USB drive is inserted. 
  • Otherwise, minimize the autosteer app and go to File Manager + on the home screen of the Android monitor. Confirm your flash drive is being recognized.


2. Locate and Extract Update File 1:06

  • Find the update file
  • If the file is a .zip file, long-press on it, select 'more', then 'extract', and choose a location to extract it. 

 

3. Install Update File 1:20

Updates for individual components:

  • Applies to IMU updates, GNSS updates, Nav Controller, etc.
  • Hold down on the update file, select 'more' in the bottom right corner, then 'open with', and choose 'certificate installer'. Press 'just once'. 
  • Return to step 6 above and complete the process

 

Full app updates (.apk file):

  • If the file is already a .apk (full app updates), no extraction is needed.
  • Full app updates can be completed directly through File Manager+ 
    Click on the file and allow download permission. This will download a new version of the autosteer app directly.
    OR
    Follow the steps inside the app starting on step 6 above. 'Display' is the component that will be updated. 


Cautionary Notes

  • Ensure the USB drive is formatted to FAT32 before downloading the update.
  • Make sure the monitor is powered on and functioning properly before starting the update process.
  • Keep the USB drive in a safe place to avoid misplacing it between updates.
  • Only download files from Agri Spray Drones or sent by ASD representatives.
