J150 How to Winterize & Store the Drone

This article covers the step-by-step process to winterize the J150 for optimal performance come springtime time

 

Winterizing your J150 Video

 

Steps:

1. Clean your Drone
  • Make sure the drone is off
  • Utilize water and some mild dish soap to spray/ wipe down with a rag to remove chemical residue (avoid spraying electronic parts of the drone, such as the Lidar, CPU, FPV, ect.)
  • Remove your two pumps connected to the tank and clean them out, including the impellers on the inside.
  • Clean the inside of the tank.
  • Reconnect the pumps to the tank and run some water through to clean out the lines.

    (Once the drone is cleaned and dried off, continue to the next step).

2. Winterization 

  • Pour anti-freeze into the tank, ensuring the antifreeze level is above the pumps

  • Make sure valves in between the two nozzles are open so antifreeze can flow through all nozzles

  • Power on your drone and remote controller, select 'Auto' on your remote controller (RC)
  • Select the setting (gear icon) in the top right corner of the RC screen.
  • Select Spray and then select 'Clean Tank'.

               

  • This will push the antifreeze through the spray system and nozzles
  • Once the cleaning cycle is finished, there should be antifreeze in the lines, pumps, and throughout the spray system.

Drone storage

  • We recommend that for the best drone health, to store your drone in a climate-controlled area, like a shop, or basement.

Battery Storage

  • Always store batteries in a climate-controlled area, ensuring the following two:

  • 1. We recommend storing the battery at 40-60% Charge level (Do not store with the battery level all the way down, as this can lead to damage to the cells and the battery)
  • 2. When storing batteries, they should be stored in a dry and ventilated place, away from
    flammable materials. It is best to use a lithium battery explosion-proof box to store the battery, or set up a lithium battery storage area for storage.
