This article outlines the step-by-step process for replacing the Top/ Front Radar on the J150 to ensure accuracy and efficiency in J150 repairs or troubleshooting.
J150 Replacing Top Radar, LIDAR, and FPV Camera Video
Removing the Top Radar Steps
Step 1: Remove the J150 Front Cover

Locate and loosen the four 3 mm hex head bolts:
-
Two bolts on each side of the top close to the top radar.

Two bolts on each side near the bottom of the front cover.

Remove all four 3mm hex head bolts and set aside for later use when reinstalling the front cover.

Slide the top cover up and off the Drone.


Step 2: Remove the Top/Front Radar Bracket 0:50
-
Identify the bracket holding the top radar with four 3 mm hex head screws.

Loosen and remove these 4 screws, 2 on each side near the bottom of the bracket. Set aside these screws; you will need them for remounting the bracket.

Step 3: Disconnect the Radar Cable 2:02

Once the bracket is removed from the drone, you will have access to disconnect the Top/ Front Radar Cable from the Radar.
Read If Replacing Cable: (If Just replacing the Radar Cable It will need to be disconnected from the Radar as well as the CPU. To access this cables connection point to the CPU, You will need to remove the right GPS Antenna housing , and disconnect the cable labeled "101 Top Radar" from the CPU. Now you can simply replace with the new Radar Cable by connecting one side to that same port on the CPU, and the other side connecting to the bottom of the Top/ Front Radar.)

NOTE: If you are not replacing the Radar Cable you ONLY need to disconnect the Cable from the Top/ Front Radar, not the CPU
Step 4: Removing Radar from Bracket
- Once Radar Cable is disconnected from the Radar, you can now remove the radar from the bracket.
- The Top/ Front Radar is held onto the bracket by four 2.5mm hex heads. Remove these 4 screws and sit aside for later when installing.

Once the 4 screws are removed, your Top/ Front Radar should be completely disconnected and removed.

Installing the Top Radar Steps
Step 1: Attaching the Top Radar to the Radar Bracket 8:18

Reattach the top/ front radar to the radar bracket with four 2.5mm hex heads screws, location under the radar bracket.

Step 2: Connecting Radar Cable to Top/Front Radar

Connect the radar cable to the top/ front radar through the port underneath the radar bracket , ensuring the connection is secure.

Step 3: Mounting Radar bracket back to the Drone

Use the four 3 mm hex head screws to secure the radar bracket with the radar already attached and connected back to the drone.

Step 4: Reattach the Top Cover 9:18

Slide the top cover back into place, aligning it with the mounting holes.

Secure the top cover with the four 3 mm hex head screws that were previously removed
Top/ Front Radar is now installed!
