Mounting & Adjusting Level Sensor for ASD Automixer

Objective

To properly mount a level sensor for an automixer on a batch tank, ensuring accurate readings and efficient operation.

Key Steps

  1. Placement Considerations:

    • Identify where the recirculation line dumps in and where products dump into the tank.

    • Mount the level sensor opposite to these points to avoid interference.

    • Consider the tank size when determining the sensor's height for optimal performance. Typically you want to mount below the 50 gallon mark on larger tanks.

  2. Installation Methods:

    • Using Adhesive Pad:

      • Thread the plug side of the cord through the taped side of the pad and pull it through.

      • Insert the sensor into the pad ensuring a snug fit.

      • Peel off the tape and adhere the sensor to the desired location on the tank.

    • Using Epoxy:

      • Mix a two-part epoxy like JB clear weld.

      • Apply a small amount of epoxy to the sensor side and press it onto the tank.

      • Secure the sensor to the tank with tape and allow the epoxy to set for about five minutes.

  1. Adjustment:

    • Ensure access to the back of the level sensor for adjustments sensitivity adjustments.

    • Remove cover and use a small screwdriver or fingernail to adjust the sensitivity as needed.

    • Turning counter clockwise increases sensitivity, Turning clockwise reduces sensitivity.
    • Reduce the sensitivity so that the red light is off when water level is below the sensor and on when the water level is at sensor level. You can place your hand inside the tank over the sensor to mimic water level when adjusting.
  2. Cord Management:

    • Wind up excess cord and secure it with zip ties.

    • Plug the cord into the port on the automixer.

Cautionary Notes

  • When using epoxy, ensure the sensor is placed correctly as it is difficult to remove once set.

  • Be cautious when adjusting the sensitivity of the sensor to avoid damage.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Plan the sensor placement carefully to avoid interference from tank operations.

  • Keep the sensor height appropriate for the tank size to prevent overmixing.

  • Secure the cord neatly to prevent tangling and ensure easy access for future maintenance.

By following these steps, you can effectively mount a level sensor for your automixer, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of your mixing process.
