  • Adjust Warning Distance to determine when the drone will alert you to nearby objects.

  • Adjust Braking Distance to set when the drone stops automatically to avoid collision.

5. Testing Obstacle Avoidance During Flight

  • Conduct test flights to observe sensor behavior in real conditions.

  • Watch how the drone responds to real-world obstacles and confirms sensor accuracy.

6. Manual Control During Indoor Flights

  • For tight indoor environments, consider reducing obstacle avoidance sensitivity or using manual control.

  • Constant braking indoors may reduce control smoothness.

7. Utilizing Top Obstacle Avoidance Sensors

  • Top-mounted sensors help detect ceilings or overhead barriers—useful for vertical inspections or bridge work.

Cautionary Notes

  • Avoid disabling obstacle avoidance unless required for special operations.

  • Bright sunlight or glare can cause false alerts or sensor interference.

  • Always monitor your surroundings; sensors are an aid, not a replacement for pilot awareness.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Adjust obstacle avoidance settings based on the mission type (indoor inspection vs. open field).

  • Practice with different settings to gain confidence in sensor performance.

  • Update firmware regularly to ensure sensor behavior remains optimal.
