J150 J70 Image Transmission Module to Restore Connection

How to resolve a connection issue caused by mismatched image transmission module firmware between a drone and remote controller. The process updates the remote and drone to matching versions, then verifies successful pairing and firmware alignment.

Objective

IMPORTANT - after completion, be sure to sign back in to your account; otherwise acres fields and other data will not be saved.

Key Steps

1. Log in with a beta account 0:12

  • Open the app and sign in using a beta account.
    • For account and password, please get in touch with
      ASD Technical Support: (573) 306-2818
  • This is required before accessing the update path used to resolve the module mismatch.
  • Confirm you are fully logged in before proceeding to device settings.

2. Update the remote controller image transmission module 0:24

  • Go to Device.
  • Since the drone and remote cannot connect normally, navigate to RC.
  • Open Running Status.
  • Select Image Transmission Module.
  • Update the remote to version 2025.11.28.
  • After the update completes, close the app and restart it when prompted.

3. Enter pairing mode 0:44

  • Reopen the app after the restart.
  • Put the system into pairing mode. It is recommended to start pairing mode on the RC first, then on the drone.
  • Repeatedly press the pairing action as needed until the drone and remote connect.
  • Once connected, continue to the firmware verification step.

4. Verify current firmware versions before upgrading the drone 1:08

  • Confirm the connection is established.
  • Check the firmware versions on both devices.
  • Note the drone side is on the 2026 version, which is preventing connection to the original setup.
  • Confirm the remote is on a version that can connect to both firmware variants.
  • Proceed to the upgrade center to align the drone’s image transmission module.

5. Upgrade only the drone image transmission module 1:36

  • Go to the Upgrade Center.
  • Uncheck UAV so only the Image Transmission Module is selected.
  • Start the upgrade.
  • Allow sufficient time for the process to complete; it may take 20 minutes to 1 hour.
  • If the progress appears stuck at 75%, continue waiting because the update may still be processing.

6. Handle the completion message and power cycle the equipment 2:00

  • When the update finishes, you may receive a message that says failed.
  • Confirm and exit the message.
  • Power down both the drone and the remote.
  • Unplug 201 S-Bat, wait 10-30 seconds, then reconnect everything.
  • Power everything back on and return both devices to pairing mode.
  • If the devices still do not connect, repeat the update process.

7. Reconnect and verify the drone firmware version 2:44

  • After powering back on, pair the drone and remote again.
  • Navigate to Device.
  • Stay in the UAV tab and check the firmware version.
  • Confirm the drone image transmission module is now on the correct version.
  • Also verify the remote running status shows 2025.11.02.
  • If both versions match and the connection is stable, the process is complete.

8. Final check and serial number reminder 3:08

  • Confirm the system is working normally.
  • If the CPU was replaced, update the serial number accordingly.
  • Document the completed firmware versions and any changes made during the process.

9. Double-check that you are on your own account before flying

  • Sign out of the beta account
  • Sign in to your personal account

Cautionary Notes

  • Do not assume the update failed immediately if the progress appears stuck at 75%; it may still be running.
  • A failure message at the end of the update does not necessarily mean the process was unsuccessful.
  • Always power cycle both the drone and remote before retrying.
  • If the drone and remote still do not connect after the first attempt, repeat the update procedure.
  • Ensure the correct account is used: beta account first, then your normal account after the Image transmission update.
  • Update the serial number if the CPU was replaced.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Keep the app open and follow the restart prompt exactly after the remote update.
  • Have the drone, remote, and any required tool ready before starting to reduce downtime.
  • Allow extra time for the image transmission module upgrade so you do not interrupt a long-running process.
  • Use pairing mode immediately after power cycling to speed up reconnection.
  • Verify firmware versions right away after reconnecting to avoid unnecessary repeat work.
