Wireless File Transfer from Drone to Remote

Objective

This SOP outlines the steps to wirelessly transfer files from a drone's internal storage to a remote controller and subsequently to a computer using a thumb drive or USB cable.

Key Steps

 

1. Prepare the Drone and Remote 0:01

• Ensure the drone is powered on.

• Confirm that the drone is set to save files to internal storage (if no SD card is present).

 

2. Capture Photos 0:47

• Take a photo using the drone.

• Check the preview window to confirm the photo was taken.

 

3. Download Photos from Internal Storage 1:04

• Click on the preview window to view the photo.

• Look for the download arrow in the bottom right corner.

• Click the download arrow to save the photo to the remote.

 

4. Verify Downloaded Photos 1:41

• Ensure the clarity of the downloaded photo has improved.

• Repeat the download process for additional photos as needed.

 

5. Access Files on the Remote 2:06

• Swipe down to access the main menu of the remote system.

• Navigate to the 'Files' section to view downloaded files.

 

6. Connect the Thumb Drive 3:16

• Plug a formatted thumb drive into the USB port on the remote.

• Confirm that the thumb drive appears on the left side of the screen.

 

7. Select Files for Transfer 3:24

• Press and hold on a file to select it.

• Scroll through and select additional files as needed.

 

8. Copy Files to Thumb Drive 3:44

• Click on the three dots in the top right corner.

• Select 'Copy to' (to avoid losing files).

• Navigate to the thumb drive and hit 'Copy'.

• Wait for the progress bar to complete.

• Check the thumb drive to ensure files are present.

 

10. Transfer Files to Computer 4:38

• Plug the thumb drive into the computer to access files.

• Alternatively, connect the remote to the computer using a USB cable.

• If using USB, go to Settings > System on the remote.

• Enable Developer Mode and set USB configuration to 'File Transfer'.

Cautionary Notes

• Always ensure the thumb drive is formatted before use.

• If using USB, ensure drivers are up to date on the computer to avoid connectivity issues.

• Use a thumb drive for faster and more reliable file transfers.
