J100 Troubleshooting Spray Issues

Steps to troubleshoot spray issues on the J-100 drone, detailing the components involved and the troubleshooting process.

Key Steps

1. Spray system components
J100 spray system include left/right pump, flow meter and
left/right nozzle(including solenoid valve ).Standing at the rear side of
drone, face to the front side of drone as the standard direction. The right
side is the right water pump and right nozzle, and the left side is the left
water pump and left nozzle. The left water pump, the left pipe of the flow meter and the left
nozzle form a control loop, and the right side is the same, so do not
connect the left and right water pumps in reverse. At the same time, the
arrow direction of the flow meter indicates the flow direction of the
liquid medicine, so do not connect it in reverse.

Note: Reverse connection of the water pump may cause one
side to have no water flow while the other side has the maximum
water flow rate.

Identify Spray Components

  • Nozzles (including solenoid valve)

  • Arm cables (send signals to nozzles)

  • CPU

  • Ultrasonic flow meter

  • Pumps

  • Battery and battery terminals

  • Cables leading to/from spray components

2. Circuit description of Spray System

The signal of the spraying system is Can bus communication. The
spraying system mainly includes two Can communication links: the
left link includes the left pump, flow meter, and left nozzle
(including left front and left rear); the right link includes the right
pump, rear radar, and right nozzle(including right front and right
rear). Problems with the devices on the left and right communication
links may affect the operation of other devices on the corresponding
links. Pay special attention to this when troubleshooting spraying
system problems. Although the spraying harness (left and right
pumps, flow meter) connected to the water tank is independent of
the nozzle harness, they are connected together inside the CPU.

Initial Observations

  • Take note of the following when experiencing spray issues:

  • Exact error messages displayed

  • Behavior of the drone during the spray failure

  • Specifics on how the drone is failing to spray

3. Spray system report error information troubleshooting

When an abnormal error occurs in the spraying system, it is
recommended to troubleshoot according to the following steps:
A. When an abnormal error occurs in the spraying system, first
determine which link the problem occurs on based on the UAV
system fault diagnosis information (left Can communication link or
right Can communication link).

B. Turn off the drone main battery, then remove the drone front
cover and unplug the backup battery cable Click here for video how to turn off drone.

Unplug all the nozzles (including solenoid valves) on the communication link and make
relevant marks to eliminate the interference of the nozzles.

For example: If there is a problem with the left pump or flow
meter, unplug all the nozzles on the left side.

C. After the drone is powered on again and initialization is completed, observe whether the devices on the relevant links still report error information (please ignore the errors related to the
nozzle). At the same time, enter the "Home"--"Device"--"Module" page of the APP to observe whether the relevant devices have normal
version numbers displayed. What needs to be observed is whether the left/right water pump, flow meter, and rear radar have error information and whether they
have normal version numbers. If there is still an abnormal version
number or the version number cannot be read(0.0.0), it is likely that
the corresponding device or related wiring harness is damaged. Please replace it in time and confirm step C again until the relevant device is normal (no error, and there is a normal version number).

D. In addition, prepare a nozzle that is confirmed to be normal (the nozzle on the previous drone cannot be used).

1. Plug the prepared nozzle into the left and right rear nozzle
positions in turn (every power on the drone only plug one nozzle) to
confirm whether there is any error information about the relevant
nozzle and whether there is a normal version number. If there is no
error and there is a normal version number, it is a nozzle problem in
the previous related link. It is recommended to replace the relevant
nozzle. If there is a nozzle error message, it should be a problem with
the wiring harness of the nozzle. It is recommended to replace the
relevant wiring harness. After replacing the wiring harness, repeat to confirm whether it is normal. 2. If your drone is configured with 4 nozzles, you need to install
the confirmed normal nozzles to the left and right rear position, and
then use a normal nozzle to check the left and right front nozzles:
plug the nozzle into the positions of the left and right front nozzles in
turn (only one nozzle is plugged each time the power is turned on, and the left and right rear nozzles must be connected normally), and confirm whether there is an error message for the relevant nozzles and whether there is a normal version number. If there is no error
and there is a normal version number, it is a nozzle problem in the
previous related link. It is recommended to replace the relevant
nozzles. If there is a nozzle error message, it should be a problem
with the related wiring harness of the nozzle. It is recommended to
replace the related wiring harness. After replacing the wiring harness, repeat to confirm whether it is normal.

Note: For a four-nozzle drone, you need to perform steps 1 and 2
in step D.

If the problem still cannot be solved after replacing the relevant
wiring harness, it is recommended to change the module on the
relevant link for troubleshooting. There is a possibility that the error
is caused by individual abnormalities of the module, but the
possibility is very low. If replacing the module still does not solve the problem, you
should try replacing the CPU as a last step. After troubleshooting, remember to plug the backup battery.

4. Spray system nozzle water output abnormal troubleshooting

Note: If replacing an ESC it will need to be reconfigured. "Click here for How to video"

If remote controller does not report any spray system errors
(excluding empty water tanks), but the nozzles do not have the water
come out during the ground test, you can troubleshoot according to
the following solutions:
Note: If only one nozzle on one side of the four nozzles drone the
water come out is abnormal, it is recommended to move to step B.  At this time, you can enter the settings page in the upper right
corner - spraying system, click the spray control on, and pull down to
observe the relevant system information of the spraying system. Observe the value of the water pump speed on the side with abnormal water output.

1. If the speed is 0 or very low, you can touch the water pump with your hand to feel the working condition. If it is indeed very low, then it is a problem with the water pump itself. It is recommended to replace the water pump.

2. If the water pump speed continues to increase, but water is not
output or a very high speed is required to output the water, proceed to troubleshooting step B.

Step B. Unplug the water pipe of the solenoid valve inlet of the
abnormal water output nozzle, click on the spray control on and pull
down to observe the relevant system information of the spray system. Observe the value of the water pump speed on the side with abnormal water output.

1. If the speed of the pump continues to increase at this time, but
there is still no water output or a very high speed is required to
output water, it may be that the relevant pipeline is blocked or the
internal operation of the water pump is abnormal. It is recommended
to check the pipeline and replace the water pump (the internal
abnormality of the water pump will cause abnormal water output on
one side, so this should be considered when troubleshooting)

2. If the water is flowing normally, it may be a problem with the
solenoid valve of the relevant nozzle. Check whether the solenoid
valve harness interface is loose or cracked. It is recommended to
tighten it or replace it with a new solenoid valve. If the problem still
exists after replacing the solenoid valve, proceed to step C.

Step C. If the problem still exists after replacing the solenoid valve:

1. It is recommended to replace the nozzle. If it works normally
after replacing the nozzle, the power supply or control of the
solenoid valve by the nozzle should be failed.

2. If the problem is still not solved after replacing the nozzle, it is
recommended to replace the overall wiring harness of the nozzle, but
the probability of this situation is extremely low.
